Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Watermarquee (“Watermarquee”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and application at watermarquee.com(the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Watermarquee is operated by E Four Pty Ltd, based in Australia. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@watermarquee.com.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects your email address and any sign-in credentials or third-party sign-in identifiers you choose to use.
- Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly. We retain a record of your subscription status, plan, and billing period.
- Images and video you upload. To watermark or process your files. How these are handled depends on the feature — see “How we handle your images” below.
- Usage data. Basic technical information such as browser type, device, and interactions with the Service, used to keep it running and improve it.
2. How we handle your images
Image handling differs by tier, and this distinction matters:
- Free watermarking runs in your browser. On the Free tier, watermarking is performed locally on your device. Your images are not uploaded to our servers to be watermarked.
- Paid AI and server tools. Features such as background removal, upscaling, AI alt text, and batch processing require uploading your image to our storage (Tigris) and sending it to our AI providers (Anthropic and Replicate) for processing. Uploaded originals are deleted after processing completes.
- We do not train AI models on your images, and we do not sell your images or personal data to anyone.
- Share pages. If you create a share link, the associated image is stored so the link works. Free share links expire automatically; paid share links persist until you delete them.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- To process your images and video as you request.
- To manage your account, subscription, and billing.
- To communicate with you about your account, security, and important service changes.
- To detect, prevent, and address abuse or technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Service providers (sub-processors)
We rely on trusted third parties to run the Service. Each receives only the data needed for its function:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Neon — database hosting (account, subscription, and usage records).
- Tigris — image and file storage for paid processing features.
- Anthropic and Replicate — AI processing for Plus features (alt text, background removal, upscaling).
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
5. Data retention
We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Images uploaded for AI/server processing are deleted after processing. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we are required to retain it by law.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@watermarquee.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use them to sell your data. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies, though doing so may affect sign-in and some features.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
10. Contact
